There was no discussion on sending army to Sri Darbar Sahib in this meeting. We discussed only those issues which were taken up in earlier meetings. All these meetings took place at Delhi.

I woke up suddently at 1:30 a.m. on June 4. I went to the holy tank at Sri Darbar Sahib and had a dip. I came back to my room and began reading the scripture. I went to bed at about 3:00 a.m. At about 4:30 a.m. , intense firing broke out, which made one wake up. This firing was more intense than that of Indo-Pak war in 1965 when I was here.

The army brought in the tanks at 10 o’clock on June 5. A tank was brought on in Bagh Wali Street on the backside of Samundri Hall. Thus the cannon fire was started. At about 11, the sounds of tanks could be heard in the periphery of Sri Darbar Sahi

In 1986, when Surjit Singh Banala was the Chief Minister and President of the Longowal Akali Dal I resigned as President of the SGPC. Next year, it was our President, Prakash Singh Badal, who persuaded me to contest the election.

Nobody says now that the contractor will make money. We want a corruption-free system in which officials and contractors cannot loot money meant for building a road. Make money, but the amount should be like the salt we use in Daal. It is not wrong to make money or do business, but if you think you will loot public money then the BJP government will not spare such people.

During the emergency, it was a known censorship. But now unknown censorship is being imposed on the press. The voices of the people are being sadly curbed by the government. The government silently suppressed the voice of the people
