Congress has always been soft on Pakistan

Appalled that some politicians are exploiting terror attacks

No one — the Kashmiri politicians in particular — has the right to question the morality of the Indian Army. These politicians are ungrateful people who have never supported the army in anything it has done.

Those posing such concerns should question the pretext of human rights. The soldiers were cornered and there were several lives at stake; this was clearly an act of self-defence.

We have to collectively understand there’s Islamic vote bank at play

They (Pakistan) have been taking half measures and that has encouraged these groups to be successful. The ISIS is also trying to be successful in Afghanistan, but they will meet quite a bit of opposition from Taliban

Pakistan can’t handle PM Modi and his decisive approach. It is rightly said Modi ji tried to spend his capital for two years trying for good relaations with Pakistan. What did we get? We get betrayal at every stage. Pakistan has repeatedly betrayed the trust

I take umbrage to someone suggesting we were reluctant. No way. The air force is always willing to do its bit. And we know it is the telling part. But I did make the point that if air power has to be used you cannot suggest what is to be used.

Because air power means escalation of the war. And we have to be prepared. I had to activate my air defence all round not only for the air-fields but for industrial and strategic complexes in the country.

I felt strong sympathy for the Army Headquarters staff. Having been caught off guard in the field, they were unable to make up for their initial lapse due to inadequate intelligence and possibly indifferent involvement from the command headquarters.

Anil Yashwant Tipnis (Served as Air Chief Marshal of the Indian Air Force)

I observed that the ground situation was grave. Army required Air Force help to evict the intruders. Army Headquarters was reluctant, possibly because it was embarrassed to have allowed the present situation to develop, to reveal the full gravity of the situation to [the Ministry of Defence]
