The immediate priority for NSE is to go public. The situation is not very different from when I joined IDFC, 12 years ago. Even at that time there was a management void and IDFC had to be taken public in 6 months. So I have experience of not only listing a company but also managing a listed entity.

From a business perspective, there would be new products, new areas of business, there could be newer geographic expansion. So, overall, the opportunity is very interesting.

Listing is an immediate priority of NSE

The company is planning for the second wave of growth after the targets that were set initially were met.

I don’t think the needs of the country can be funded purely through banks

Our objective was to use the asset-management platform to launch infrastructure-focused funds and use that platform as a means to intermediate retail money into infrastructure products. But that has not happened as much as we would have liked it to. So, that business has an element that we believe long term would be very interesting from an IDFC perspective, given our experience.

In general, institutional investors and markets are very receptive to good quality organisations and good quality growth stories. From that perspective, I don’t see any reason why NSE’s IPO should not be well received

As I have said before the bank is expected to get operationalised by October 1st, 2015 and the demerger process which is a court process is expected to take anywhere from 6-9 months.

Once you have the court process completed approvals from various stake holders including creditors, all types of categories of bond holders, lenders etc and then the final license is given by RBI to commence banking operations. So, we expect all of that to be completed from January to September so that we can operationalise the bank in October.

Don’t throw them on the road. If a termination is the only option, it should be handled in a humane manner.

While there are organisations that are purely task-oriented, there are others that have a softer and people-centric culture.

I think rural will be little slower than urban but it will recover over a period of time.

I think the immediate short-term trigger is availability of currency notes of 2000, 1000, 500. Number two, I think there is some degree of anxiety among the users. What will happen?

Harsh Mariwala

I hope not because the rates have not yet been discussed with the states. There is a separate group which is working on the rates, the bands have been discussed in terms of different bands but the actual category, what product will go in to which band has not yet been discussed. So I think, few other things are also pending.

I do not know. I am not an economist to say that this is the figure....
